PRACTICAL GUIDE · COLOMBIAN SHAPEWEAR
Which shapewear to choose for the area you want to shape
Choose by the area you want to control, the coverage you need and the clothes you’ll wear it with.
You don’t need to memorize body-shape names. To choose shapewear well, look at three things: which area you want to control, how much it should cover, and what you plan to wear it with.
Start with the area you want to control
A full-body garment isn’t always the best buy. If you only want to smooth your abdomen and waist under trousers, a shaping panty can give you the coverage you need with less fabric. If you also want support at your back and thighs, look for a full-body or biker style.
| What you’re looking for | Recommended type | Wear it with |
|---|---|---|
| Abdomen and waist control | Shaping panty | Jeans, trousers and everyday wear |
| Abdomen, back and torso control | Full-body shapewear | Dresses and pieces that show your silhouette |
| Abdomen and thigh control | Biker shapewear | Trousers, sets and long dresses |
| Open necklines or bare shoulders | Strapless shapewear | Strapless dresses and wide-neck tops |
Coverage matters more than the label
Check where the garment ends, what kind of closure it has and whether the straps are removable or adjustable. The photos of each product show the waist height, leg length and back coverage. Those details decide whether the shapewear will work with your clothes.
Don’t buy a smaller size
Compression comes from how the garment is built, not from forcing a smaller size. Measure your waist and hips without pulling the tape tight. If the measurements fall into different sizes, go by the larger one and check the product’s size chart.

Choose by coverage first and by compression level second. To start, a piece you can wear with several outfits is usually a better buy than a very specific style.
